Double-double by Kamphaus leads Tigers in loss to W-H-A

Katie Kamphaus' double-double provided the main highlight for the Nevis girls basketball team in a 70-26 Northwoods Conference loss to Walker-Hackensack-Akeley at Walker Tuesday night.

Kamphaus scored 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Tigers, who trailed 48-16 at the half. Ava Isaacson had six rebounds, Kali Oelschlager had four steals and Kia Heide dished out three assists for Nevis, which turned the ball over 39 times. Kamphaus made 8 of 11 field goals while the rest of team went 2 for 31, including missing all eight 3-point attempts.

The Wolves improved to 4-0 in the conference and 8-3 overall while Nevis fell to 2-5 against conference teams and 2-9 overall.

"It was another tough night for us. We continue to turn the ball over way too much," said Nevis head coach Bradley Neyens. "There were some bright spots in the game. We got some points in the paint that are hard to do against this team, so I was happy with that. We didn't make one shot beyond 15 feet and we just can't compete when we shoot like that."
